Canada’s Online Immigration Tool

An interactive website created by Canada’s immigration ministry is becoming increasingly popular among those who wish to immigrate to the country.

According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), the federal department in charge of immigration — its Come to Canada Wizard gets more than seven thousand hits a day from around the world. The site has been accessed more than four million times since it was launched two years ago.

The Wizard takes a potential applicant on a step-by-step questioning process, and at the end provides information whether or not he/she has the potential to be accepted as an immigrant and if yes, through which of the many streams, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program. As well, it helps potential applicants with tips on relevant forms and instructions for their applications.

Canada accepts more than 250,000 new immigrants every year, but in the past years has radically overhauled the system. The emphasis now is not on minimum requirements needed to immigrate, but on skill sets that are needed in Canada.
