American Express/Aeroplan Offer New Charge Cards

Canada’s Aeroplan and the Charge/Credit Card company American Express are teaming up to offer charge cards that give travelers a faster way to earn Aeroplan Miles.

The American Express AeroplanPlus Charge Cards come in three forms –  The American Express AeroplanPlus  Card, The American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card and the American Express AeroplanPlus Platinum  Card.

One of the advantages of such cards is that with one purchase you earn points from two sources — in this case from the Aeroplan card and the American Express AeroplanPlus Card.

If you sign up now, you can get between 5,000 – 25,000 Aeroplan Miles, depending on the Card you apply for.

 Here are some of the benefits of the AeroplanPlus Card:

  • 5,000 bonus Miles if you sign up now.
  • 1 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar to $3.00 spent on Aeroplan’s partner companies, which include Esso gas stations, Home Hardware, Delta Hotels, Avis car rental and, of course, Air Canada.
  • 1 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar spent through the AeroplanPlus Card.
  • Annual fee of $ 60 waived for the first year.

Other Benefits of the American Express AeroplanPlus Card:

  • Supplementary cards free for the first year; thereafter $ 20.00 per card.
  • $250,000 Travel Accident Insurance.
  • Travel Emergency Assistance
  • Purchase Protection Plan
  • Front Of The Line® access.  This means card members have access to tickets to important concerts, music events and other such events before they go on sale. As well, they will have also access to reserved seats.

 

The American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card:

  • Up to 20,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles. You will get 15,000 Miles at your first use of the card, and the rest 5,000 Miles once you spend at least $1,000 during the first three months.
  • 1 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar to $3.00 spent on Aeroplan’s partner companies, which include Esso gas stations, Home Hardware, Delta Hotels, Avis car rental and, of course, Air Canada.
  • 1 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar spent through the American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card, up to the first $10,000.
  • 1.25 Aeroplan Miles for every dollar spent on the AeroplanPlus Gold Card, after the total has reached $10,000.
  • Annual fee of $120.00
  • Two free supplementary cards.

Other Benefits of the American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card:

  • Same as for American Express AeroplanPlus Card plus the following:
  • $500,000 Travel Accident Insurance
  • Flight Delay Insurance
  • Baggage Delay Insurance
  • Lost or Stolen Baggage Insurance
  • Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance

 

The American Express AeroplanPlus Platinum Card:

  • Up to 25,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles. You get 20,000 Miles at your first use of the card, and the rest 5,000 Miles once you spend at least $1,000.00 during the first three months.
  • 1 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar to $3.00 spent on Aeroplan’s partner companies, which include Esso gas stations, Home Hardware, Delta Hotels, Avis car rental and, of course, Air Canada.
  • 1.25 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar spent through the American Express AeroplanPlus PlatinumCard, up to the first $ 25,000 every year.
  • 1.5 Aeroplan Miles for every dollar spent on the Card, after the total has reached $25,000 a year.
  • Once per year, you can redeem 15,000 Aeroplan Miles for a short-haul round-trip Classic Flight reward seat in economy class and receive a second complimentary Partner Ticket for the same itinerary.
  • Annual fee of $499.00
  • Supplementary cards cost $199 each.

 

Other Benefits of the American Express AeroplanPlus Platinum Card:

  • Same as previous plus the following:
  • Complimentary Hertz Rent-A-Car Gold Plus Rewards Membership Class and free Car Class upgrades
  • Emergency Medical Insurance (Out of Province/Country)
